Cynthia Weichel, Conductor

Cynthia has been a faculty member at the Santa Rosa Junior College in the Music Department since 1999 teaching Classical Music Appreciation, Music History, Music Fundamentals, Applied Music, and conducting the college orchestra. She has also taught a chamber music class on campus through Community Education. Miss Weichel is currently the Founder/Conductor of the Symphonic Reading Orchestra, which is offered during the summer at the SRJC. Cynthia conducted the SRJC Orchestra for 13 years bringing the level and success of that orchestra to new heights. She was also the long-time assistant conductor of the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra. Cynthia is a professional violinist having been a member of the Napa Valley Symphony for over 20 years. She was also a member of the Santa Rosa Symphony and has performed with the Marin and Vallejo symphonies. Miss Weichel was the long-time manager of the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Ensembles, the Operation/Education Director of the California Symphony in Walnut Creek, and Director of Education for the Santa Rosa Symphony. Cynthia received her Bachelor's degree from Sonoma State University and Master's in Music from California State University at Sacramento. She also maintains a private studio in Santa Rosa to teach violin.
