The North Bay Sinfonietta was formed by conductor, Cynthia Weichel in January 2014. The impetus to form this ensemble came from the many former loyal members of the Santa Rosa Junior College Orchestra which Ms. Weichel conducted from 1999 to 2012. The 30 plus members include amateur, professional and student musicians from Sonoma County. The orchestra’s mission is to present innovative programming which will include a broad range of music from Baroque to Contemporary, from standard symphonic music to chamber works, including music from lesser-known composers. The orchestra will also feature outstanding guest soloists from the greater Bay Area, and offer solo opportunities for talented musicians within our community. The orchestra presents concerts in the community in October, December, March and May. Membership is open to string, woodwinds, brass, and percussion players. Participation in the course requires an audition with the Music Director/Conductor prior to registration.
