About SRJC Music

Burbank Auditorium exteriorWelcome to the SRJC Music Department! We are proud to be one of the most successful and well-established community college music programs in Northern California.

We have a comprehensive program where students can pursue Associate in Arts degrees in Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, or Jazz Studies, as well as a degree or certificate in Digital Audio.  We provide core curriculum for students seeking transfer to a CSU and/or UC as a Music major or minor.  We offer a wide array of General Education survey courses for musicians and non-musicians alike, as well as entry-level courses in piano (MUSCP 11A), voice (MUSCP 17A), and guitar (MUSCP 19.1A).

Our performing groups include Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Jazz Band, and Jazz Combos that regularly perform at our Santa Rosa campus, including in our multi-million-dollar newly renovated Burbank Auditorium, and out in the community. Our outstanding Applied Music program provides opportunities for individual instruction and recital performance.

The Department regularly hosts performances and master classes by renowned guest artists, and we are closely allied with other musical groups in the community including the Santa Rosa Symphony, the Santa Rosa Symphonic Chorus, and various music teacher organizations such as MACCC, CAPMT, and MTAC.
