Practice Rooms
Any student enrolled in a Music course may use the practice rooms in Forsyth Hall. Most rooms contain pianos and are accessible whenever the building is open. Applied Music students have priority for usage (with assigned times), otherwise rooms are available on a first-come first-served basis. There are 13 individual practice rooms, two of which have higher-quality pianos that are only available if enrolled in an advanced piano course. There is also a percussion room which requires special permission for access.
To obtain a key, first go to the Accounting Office in Bailey Hall and pay a key deposit (currently $20), then bring your deposit receipt and proof of enrollment in a Music class to the Music Department office, Forsyth Hall, Room 130.
Deposits are refunded after keys are returned in usable condition. Keys may be returned to the Music Office in person or mailed to: SRJC Music Dept., 1501 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401. Please provide your Student ID number.
Lockers
Any student enrolled in a Music course may sign up to use a locker in Forsyth Hall free of charge. Preference is given to students enrolled in instrumental classes, with larger lockers reserved for students with larger instruments. Otherwise, locker sign-ups are on a first-come, first-served basis.
To request a locker, email your name and student ID number to music@santarosa.edu. If you play an instrument, indicate what type of instrument, e.g. trumpet, baritone. You will receive an email with a form to sign electronically.
Loaner Instruments
The Music Department has some band and orchestra instruments available for loan to students enrolled in an approved SRJC performance ensemble. For more information, contact Dr. Jerome Fleg, Director of Instrumental Music.
